EBTs en España: tipos de EBTs y su impacto en la productividad

Abstract

Las Empresas de Base Tecnológica (EBTs) vienen recibiendo una atención creciente por parte de la literatura académica, consciente de su importancia para el progreso técnico, la mejora de la productividad y el crecimiento económico. No obstante, la investigación al respecto adolece de falta de consenso en torno al propio concepto de EBT. Distintos trabajos emplean diferentes criterios, en muchas ocasiones guiados más por cuestiones de conveniencia y disponibilidad de datos que por argumentos teóricos. El presente trabajo revisa dichos criterios y, utilizando herramientas tomadas de la teoría de conjuntos, los combina para construir una tipología que recoge diferentes configuraciones de empresas, principalmente en función de su relación con la tecnología. Esta metodología nos permite explorar en detalle la heterogeneidad existente dentro de las EBTs, concepto que puede dar cobijo a tipos de empresas muy diferentes, y llevar a cabo un análisis causal, identificando las configuraciones de empresas que conducen a la obtención de una elevada productividad. Para el análisis empleamos datos procedentes del PITEC (2007).
