Abstract

Des réovirions défectifs, dont le génome ne possède pas le segment L1, ont été obtenus en coinfectant des cellules L avec les particules defectives et des réovirus thermosensibles de la classes E. Après trois passages à la température permissive, afin-de constituer une population de particules défectives par complémentation avec le mutant ts. le quatrième passage a été effectué à la température non-permissive et les virus ainsi produits ont été exclusivement défectifs. La mutation E a été définie comme étant dans une fonction cis-agissante, la fonction L1 étant une fonction trans-agissante. [...]

Defective reovirions lacking the L1 segment of the viral genome were produced by a process that initia11y 1nvolved the coinfection of L cells by defective cores and the class E ts mutant of reovirus. After three passages et the permissive temperature for the mutant to build up the population of defectives by complementation the fourth passage was carried out at the non-permissive temperature and the progeny virus formed exclusively consisted of defectives. The E mutation has been defined as being in a cis-acting function, the L1 function is a trans-acting function. [...]
