The topic to be investigated in this thesis is the applicability of the secular stagnation thesis to a dynamic model of the economy. The discussion of the stagnation thesis has almost all been carried on in completely static terms, and heretofore no attempt has been made to relate it to the problems of general business cycle theory. This is a result of the confusion between statics and dynamics which has plagued economics since the publication of Lord Keynes’ “General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money”.[...]
