Cette thèse consiste en deux manuscrits qui examinent les réponses de broutage de Sida crystallina, Chydorus sphaericus et Alona affinis en fonction des variations naturelles dans leurs ressources alimentaires (en suspension et périphytique). Le premier manuscrit introduit une méthode de mesure in situ des taux d'élimination des particules en suspension (filtration) par les Cladocères littoraux. L'application de cette technique démontre de quelle façon Sida crystallina varie ses taux d'élimination et d'ingestion des particules en suspension en fonction des variations de la concentration en matières particulaires en suspension. Une réponse fonctionelle de type 2 à été trouvée. Les données suggèrent que Sida a aussi altère ses réponses de recherche et de consommation des matières en suspension avec les variations dans la source d'alimentation alternative (le périphyton). This thesis consists of two manuscripts which examine the foraging responses of Sida crystallina, Chydorus sphaericus, and Alona affinis to natural variations in their food resources (suspension and periphyton). The first manuscript introduces a method for measuring suspension clearance (filtering) rates of littoral Cladocera, in situ. Application of the technique shows how Sida crvstallina varied its suspension clearance and suspension ingestion rates with variation in concentration of suspended particulate matter. A type 2 functional response was found. The data suggest that Sida also altered its suspension feeding response with variations in alternate food (periphyton). […]
