Abstract

<p>Nos &uacute;ltimos dois s&eacute;culos o avan&ccedil;o do conhecimento da diversidade em Arachnida tem ocorrido numa velocidade grande, principalmente no que diz respeito ao Brasil. Isso ocorreu devido ao aumento consider&aacute;vel no n&uacute;mero de especialistas formados e ativos nos campos da taxonomia, sistem&aacute;tica, biogeografia e ecologia de Arachnida. Neste artigo, tra&ccedil;amos uma breve resumo da trajet&oacute;ria hist&oacute;rica da aracnologia no Mundo e no Brasil, e apontamos o estado atual do nosso conhecimento da fauna no Mundo e no Brasil, al&eacute;m de abordamos os desafios principais para o futuro.</p>
