The sternalis muscle is an unusual variant of the chest wall musculature. Awareness of its appearance on axial, coronal, and sagittal computed tomography (CT) as well as sonography is needed to diagnose this normal variant and prevent unnecessary workup with further imaging or biopsy. To our knowledge, the description of this normal variant by both sonography and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) has not been reported previously.
