Distancia taxonómica y riqueza de especies de las aves de los humedales de la costa peruana

Abstract

El Perú alberga más de 1870 especies de aves, de las cuales el 27 % está asociada a ambientes acuáticos. Estas especies cumplen funciones ecológicas esenciales; no obstante, son especialmente vulnerables debido a su alta dependencia de los humedales para la alimentación y el descanso. Este estudio evaluó la riqueza, composición, diversidad taxonómica y rasgos funcionales de las comunidades de aves en doce humedales costeros peruanos. Se empleó un análisis de escalamiento multidimensional no métrico (NMDS) para examinar la influencia de variables ambientales y espaciales (tamaño del humedal, extensión del cuerpo de agua, diversidad de hábitats y latitud) sobre la composición aviar, utilizando rasgos funcionales de la base de datos AVONET. Se identificaron 236 especies pertenecientes a 23 órdenes y 52 familias, con predominancia de Charadriiformes y Passeriformes. La diversidad taxonómica promedio (Δ⁺ = 90.74) reveló una alta heterogeneidad evolutiva. El análisis NMDS indicó que los humedales más extensos y con mayores cuerpos de agua albergan una mayor riqueza, aunque sin diferencias estadísticamente significativas. Los resultados subrayan la importancia de estos ecosistemas como refugios de biodiversidad y resaltan la necesidad de fortalecer la investigación ecológica ante las presiones antrópicas y el cambio climático para fundamentar estrategias de conservación efectivas.
