El análisis de la diversidad biocultural para el diagnóstico y mitigación del abandono rural

Abstract

El marco de la diversidad biocultural (entendido como los vínculos entre la diversidad biológica y la diversidad cultural) ha emergido como una herramienta prometedora que aporta un enfoque oportuno para el diagnóstico y la mitigación del abandono rural. En esta contribución se introduce y aplica el marco conceptual de la diversidad biocultural para discutir cómo puede contribuir al conocimiento de los impactos del abandono rural, así como a ayudar a afrontar futuras problemáticas en el contexto de la España vaciada. A partir de una revisión de la literatura científica, analizamos los trabajos previos enfocados en la relación entre el abandono rural y la diversidad biocultural. Los resultados muestran una muy limitada literatura centrada en esta relación, donde se identifican cinco grandes categorías de impacto, relacionadas con la pérdida del conocimiento tradicional, la simplificación del paisaje cultural, la desconexión emocional, la ruptura de redes alimentarias y los cambios en servicios de los ecosistemas culturales. Finalmente, discutimos sobre los principales retos a los que se enfrenta la operacionalización de la diversidad biocultural para convertirse en un marco de trabajo útil que ayude a afrontar los futuros retos en relación con el abandono rural.
