Biodiversidad de insectos en sistemas de policultivos de maíz (Zea mays L.)

Abstract

La agricultura convencional implica la simplificación de la estructura del medioambiente con una considerable disminución de la diversidad natural. Apoyados en la práctica de los policultivos (maíz- calabaza, maíz-ajonjolí, maíz-frijol, maíz-girasol), se desarrollaron un grupo de experimentos encaminados a favorecer la diversidad insectil. La investigación se realizó en los años 2017, 2018 y 2019, en el municipio de Fomento, Provincia Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, perteneciente a la Empresa Agropecuaria Ramón Ponciano. Realizado sobre un diseño de bloques al azar, tuvo como objetivos identificar las especies de insectos asociados al cultivo del maíz, caracterizar los enemigos naturales presentes en el maíz en los sistemas de policultivos, así como determinar los índices ecológicos de riqueza, equidad y dominancia. Después de realizada la investigación se pudo identificar 24 especies de insectos: 9 perjudiciales y 15 beneficiosos. Las especies de biorreguladores más representativos fueron como depredadores Mixogaster sp y Scymnus sp y como parásitos L. achyppivora y A. peliventri. El fitófago S. frugiperda fue el de mayor importancia durante todo el ciclo del cultivo. Los policultivos fueron, desde el punto de vista de la biodiversidad los que muestran mayor diversidad biológica dado por una mayor riqueza, diversidad y equidad de insectos que el monocultivo, destacándose M+A.
