Heterogeneidad espacial a pequeña escala y diversidad de interacciones planta-visitante floral en alta montaña

Abstract

La homogeneización antrópica de los hábitats reduce la biodiversidad, pero se desconoce su efecto sobre la ocurrencia y frecuencia de interacciones planta-visitante floral. Aquí exploramos cómo la heterogeneidad ambiental a pequeña escala (decenas de metros) contribuye a la diversidad de interacciones planta-visitante floral en dos ecosistemas alpinos. Para ello, obtuvimos redes de interacciones planta-visitante floral en mosaicos de hábitat de ambos ecosistemas y calculamos la importancia de dos fuentes de reemplazo de interacciones entre hábitats: cambios de identidad de especies (reemplazo de especies); y diferencias en las interacciones entre las especies compartidas por los hábitats, i.e. las especies interaccionan solo en un subconjunto de los hábitats en los que coexisten. La heterogeneidad aumentó la diversidad de interacciones, las diferencias en las interacciones entre especies compartidas contribuyeron considerablemente a la diversidad de interacciones y las plantas interaccionaron con más visitantes florales donde eran más abundantes. Las interacciones variaron más de lo predicho por la variación de especies, así que el reemplazo de especies no predice bien el reemplazo de interacciones. Nuestros resultados apoyan el importante papel de la heterogeneidad espacial para mantener una elevada diversidad de interacciones planta-visitante floral.
