A Autoimagem de Idosos Institucionalizados: uma Perspectiva Fenomenológica

Abstract

O número de idosos acometidos de condições incapacitantes cresce em todo o mundo e, como consequência deste aumento, a procura por lares de longa permanência também se intensifica entre famílias que buscam acolhimento. A velhice acarreta em várias mudanças na qualidade e nas condições de vida dos idosos, e ao serem institucionalizados necessitam se adaptar a novas rotinas, com cuidados constantes acerca de necessidades básicas e privações na tomada de decisão, o que pode influenciar, de acordo com a psicologia humanista, na autoimagem sustentada e consequentemente na saúde mental. Com isso o objetivo deste estudo é investigar os sentimentos e percepções de idosos institucionalizados acerca da sua autoimagem, a partir de uma pesquisa bibliográfica em artigos publicados entre 2012 e 2022, nas plataformas Scielo, Pepsic, Redalyc, BVS e Lilacs, analisando-os a partir da abordagem Centrada na Pessoa. Os resultados demonstram que vários fatores podem influenciar na construção da autoimagem de idosos institucionalizados, entre eles estão as condições socioeconômicas, os sentimentos acerca da vivência nos lares, aspectos da saúde mental e as representações sociais
