Influencia del clima de la sala de clases en el rendimiento escolar

Abstract

Tesis (Master of Science in Engineering)--Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, 2010 ; En un conjunto de observaciones y estudios de caso, el clima en la sala de clase ha sido identificado como un factor importante en el rendimiento académico de los alumnos. Evaluamos el efecto del clima y de la influencia del profesor en la sala de clases a través de un análisis estadístico de observaciones de video de clases, aplicado sobre una base de 51.329 profesores. Hallamos que el ambiente en la sala tiene una influencia importante en el rendimiento de los alumnos. Específicamente, que el manejo del grupo del curso que ejerce el profesor en la sala, es consistentemente más relevante y significativo que otras medidas del desarrollo de la clase. Hallamos también que sorprendentemente, el ambiente en las clases del establecimiento es un mejor predictor que el ambiente en la sala de clases en los ciclos que tienen relación con la medición de los resultados de los estudiantes, lo que sugiere que el ambiente en la escuela es un desafío más relevante, pero menos al alcance de cada profesor, que del conjunto.
