Traspaso del tipo de cambio real a precios internos : una mirada post crisis sub-prime

Abstract

Tesis (Magíster en Economía)--Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, 2013 ; El presente estudio analiza el comportamiento del coe ciente de traspaso del tipo de cambio a precios internos durante la crisis sub-prime 2008-2009. El marco te orico sugiere que el grado de traspaso a precios internos depende de cuatro factores: 1) la fracci on de bienes importados que componen la canasta del ndice de precios al consumidor; 2) la elasticidad de la demanda y funciones de costos de las rmas; 3) la proporci on de rmas con exibilidad en la jaci on de precios, y 4) el grado de credibilidad de la pol tica monetaria. Sin embargo, s olo se encuentra evidencia signi cativa para la proporci on de rmas con exibilidad de precios, lo que se asocia al comportamiento in acionario de los pa ses. El estudio provee fuerte evidencia de quiebres estructurales para 14 de los 30 pa ses estudiados, siendo la inercia in acionaria un factor determinante en el menor traspaso.
