Constitucionalismo salmantino

Abstract

Este artículo examina las contribuciones a la filosofía política de tres pensadores de la Escuela de Salamanca: Francisco de Vitoria, Francisco Suárez y Juan de Mariana. Frente a las transformaciones radicales de la época moderna temprana, estos pensadores desarrollaron sólidas defensas de la libertad pública y críticas al absolutismo, fundamentadas en una comprensión teológica de la ley natural y la dignidad humana. Vitoria destacó los derechos humanos y la soberanía limitada. Suárez articuló una teoría de gobierno limitado y resistencia condicional frente a gobernantes injustos. Mariana introdujo la visión más radical, abogando por un gobierno participativo y llegando incluso a justificar el tiranicidio. Sus ideas siguen siendo relevantes en una era de creciente autoritarismo y desafíos a la democracia, ofreciendo un modelo para equilibrar la razón, la ley y la libertad pública.
