Nuevo registro de jaguar (Panthera onca), en el centro occidente de México

Abstract

Presentamos nuevos registros de distribución del jaguar (Panthera onca) para la región conocida comoDepresión del Bajo Balsas en Michoacán. Estos registros constituyen la evidencia más clara sobre su presencia parala zona de influencia de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Zicuirán-Infiernillo. Fortalecen la hipótesis que señala zonas deMichoacán como aptas para la presencia de la especie. Es posible que la presencia del jaguar se deba a que la zonaes un corredor que permite la movilidad entre poblaciones de las sierras del occidente de México y la vertiente delPacífico.
