"Hibridity" has been one of the most important discursive structures in the construction of latinoamerican identity. We use Foucault's concept of "discourse" inorder to think "hibridity" because for him, discourses are practices that structure our sense of reality, that form the concepts that we use to think about ourselves and determine our behavior. We present here a synthesis of the ideas of so me contemporary thinkers who work with the notion of hibridity. This synthesis shows the heterogeneity of the debate and presents "hibridity" not as anunitarian and stable concept, but as a concept inconstant negotiation, alive, being re-definedand used to think and re-define the so called latinoamerican identity
