Abstract

This paper analyzes various viewpoints of different aspects of the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870) disseminated in newspapers specially created by the Government of Paraguay during the conflict, specifically between 1867 and 1869. By studying the contents of the trench newspapers regarding the main issues at hand, or their silence regarding said issues, we seek to identify the arguments used by the Government to explain their actions, attempting to determine what the role of the press was ultimately during this period of total crisis.
