Replicando alla sfida lanciata dal professor Zecchini, che ha assimilato la posizione di Polibio sull’imperium Romanum a quella di Callicrate, l’articolo analizza l’articolazione interna della classe dirigente achea e l’evoluzione della politica del gruppo guidato da Filopemene, Licorta, Arcone e Polibio nel lungo periodo che va dalla seconda guerra di Macedonia alla guerra acaica.
In reply to the challenge issued by Professor Zecchini, who likened Polybius’ position on the imperium Romanum to that of Callicrates, the article analyzes the internal articulation of the Achaean ruling class and the evolution of the politics of the group led by Philopoemen, Lycortas, Archon, and Polybius over the long period from the Second Macedonian War to the Achaean War.
