In an effort to estimate and evaluate impervious cover throughout the Raritan Basin, this methodology was developed to explore the technical and policy decisions involved in the estimation process. This methodology defines impervious surface areas, states reasons to be concerned about impervious cover, and presents several methods of deriving impervious surface area measurements at the Basin-wide scale, at the subwatershed level, and at an even smaller scale for rapid watershed improvement projects.
