The Inferior Court of Common Pleas at Freehold was directed every spring session to set the price rates for liquors, food, lodging, provender, and stabling or pasturing of horses for every licensed Innholder and Tavernkeeper in Monmouth County. These broadsides listing rates were printed, signed, and recorded by the court Clerk, and were to be displayed in open view in the most public room of the taverns. If the rates were not displayed and followed, a severe monetary penalty was collected.
