Abstract

Este ensaio aborda quatro livros da escritora portuguesa Teolinda Gersão publicados no Brasil: os romances A árvore das palavras (2004), A cidade de Ulisses (2017), O Regresso de Júlia Mann a Paraty (2021); e o livro de contos Alice e outras mulheres (2020). Com exceção do primeiro, publicado pela Editora Planeta, os outros foram publicados no Brasil pela editora Oficina Raquel. Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar os principais pontos de cada livro para que as pessoas que ainda não conhecem a sua obra passem a conhecê-la e, consequentemente, descubram o potencial criativo e estilístico dessa autora que figura no rol dos melhores escritores do mundo. O trabalho analisa, ainda, as principais características dessas obras no que se refere a temas, cenário e personagens e como a autora faz uso de uma linguagem poética para denunciar problemas relativos a preconceitos, raça, gênero e identidade. This essay discusses four books by the Portuguese writer Teolinda Gersão published in Brazil: the novels The Word Tree (2004), The City of Ulysses (2017), The Return of Julia Mann to Paraty (2021); and the book of short stories Alice and other women (2020). Except for the first, published by Editora Planeta, the others were published in Brazil by Oficina Raquel. This work aims to present the main points of each book so that people who do not yet know her work come to know it, and, consequently, discover the creative and stylistic potential of this author who may be listed as one of the best writers in the world. This paper also analyzes the main characteristics of these works with regard to themes, setting and characters and how the author uses a poetic language to approach problems related to prejudice, race, gender and identity.
