Abstract

Se estudian cincuenta y cinco dientes aisládos de elasmobranquios hibodóntidos encontrados en el nivel bituminoso «Emma» de la serie carbonífera de Puertollano (Ciudad Real). Las piezas se asignan al género Lissodus Brough 1935, discutiéndose la posible pertenencia a L. zideki (Johnson, 1981) del Pérmico inferior del grupo Wichita-Albany (Tejas, Estados Unidos). El material, perteneciente a una misma especie, refleja clara heterodoncia distinguiéndose dientes mesiales, anterolaterales, laterales y posteriores. En lugar de la hipótesis clásica que considera como endorreica la cuenca de Puertollano, la asociación en el nivel «Emma» de restos de Lissodus semejantes a la especie marina L. zideki con platisómidos (peces actinopterigios), sugiere condiciones parálicas para esta cuenca carbonífera. Esta conclusión es compatible con la existencia de acantódidos (Acanthodes), xenacántidos (Orthacanthus y Xenacanthus) y anfibios disorófidos, taxones actualmente considerados como eurihalinos.
