Abstract

Les enjeux démographiques des sociétés postindustrielles, les tensions politiques et les catastrophes naturelles s’allient au développement rapide des technologies de l’information, du transport et des communications pour favoriser la mobilité des personnes à l’échelle internationale. Les mouvements de populations modifient l’organisation des sociétés et les questions entourant la « gestion » de la diversité culturelle nous interpellent. Ce travail met en lumière le cosmopolitisme comme élément de réponse aux conjonctures du monde contemporain. Il étudie particulièrement la mise en oeuvre de stratégies cosmopolites déployées par les membres de la communauté bahaï de Montréal, un groupe religieux hétéroclite et international dont le message prédit l’unité du genre humain. À travers le principe d’« unité dans la diversité », les pratiques et les préceptes bahaïs contribuent à créer des liens entre des individus provenant de tous les horizons, et ce, afin de construire le « village global » bahaï.
