Dans cet essai critique inspiré de quelques auteurs contemporains, notamment Gérard Bouchard, nous examinerons certains présupposés sur les États-Unis qui ont servi de fondements comparatifs à l’interprétation de l’histoire des communautés francophones. De plus, dans la mesure où, aux États-Unis, depuis vingt ans au moins, la littérature postcoloniale constitue un champ de recherche important, nous terminerons en nous interrogeant sur la pertinence d’appliquer la problématique postcoloniale à la situation contemporaine de la francophonie canadienne.
