Abstract

Los trastornos del medio interno, y en particular los trastornos electrolíticos y del equilibrio ácido-base constituyen los más frecuentes en la práctica diaria. Cualesquiera que sea la especialidad estos trastornos se encuentran a menudo, en la visita hospitalaria de un pediatra, del internista, del cirujano y en general en todas las especialidades, lo que justifica que el conocimiento de estos trastornos constituya temática obligada en el pregrado, y en el postgrado de la carrera médica. El contenido del agua y los electrolitos, de los compartimientos y de los tejidos corporales, constituye el ambiente químico en el cual se desarrollan los procesos biológicos de ahí su gran importancia. Este texto, se propone revisar los conceptos fundamentales y los trastornos del agua , sodio , potasio, calcio, fósforo y magnesio, asimismo se revisa los desórdenes del equilibrio ácido base tratando en todo momento hacerla comprensible y con un enfoque clínico.
