Abstract

Hand sanitizer merupakan cairan antiseptik yang berperan menjaga kebersihan tangan serta memberikan perlindungan dari paparan mikroorganisme penyebab penyakit, terutama ketika fasilitas cuci tangan tidak tersedia. Kepraktisan penggunaannya membuat produk ini semakin banyak dipilih oleh masyarakat. Seiring meningkatnya perhatian terhadap bahan alami, daun sirih (Piper betle Linn) dan jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia S.) menjadi dua tanaman yang berpotensi digunakan sebagai komponen utama pembuatan hand sanitizer karena kandungan minyak atsiri, flavonoid, dan polifenol yang bersifat antimikroba. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan warga Desa Dangdang melalui penyuluhan, praktik langsung pembuatan hand sanitizer alami, serta evaluasi pengetahuan menggunakan instrumen pre-test dan post-test. Berdasarkan hasil kajian pustaka dan materi penyuluhan, kedua bahan herbal tersebut terbukti mampu menghambat maupun membunuh berbagai jenis patogen seperti Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp., Helicobacter pylori, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, dan Streptococcus mutans, serta menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus. Evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat yang sangat signifikan, dari tingkat pengetahuan awal 0–30% menjadi 100% setelah kegiatan berlangsung. Selain mampu memahami konsep antiseptik alami, peserta juga dapat mempraktikkan proses ekstraksi, pencampuran, dan pengemasan secara mandiri. Secara keseluruhan, program ini berhasil memperkuat literasi kesehatan masyarakat sekaligus mendorong pemanfaatan bahan lokal sebagai alternatif antiseptik yang aman, terjangkau, dan ramah lingkungan.
