The study determined the profile of the respondents in terms of age and category; determined the performance of an inclusive MHEI in implementing maritime education standards in terms of academic activities, certification arrangement, flexibilities, special training, quality management, activities, medical standards, distance/e-learning, health, safety and environmental measures; presented the challenges encountered during the implementation process; tested the difference in responses according to profile variables; determined the significant relationship between implementation and challenges encountered; and proposed a plan of action to further enhance the performance of the college in implementing the standards. An adapted questionnaire was used to assess the performance of one Maritime Higher Education Institution in implementing maritime education standards on a 4-point Likert scale. The data were collected using a total population sampling method, and then descriptive statistics analysis and correlation analysis were conducted using SPSS. The study was responded by administrators, faculty members, and a random selection of alumni from academic years 2021-2024, where majority are alumni. The respondents strongly agreed that the MHEI is implementing maritime education standards but also strongly agreed that the MHEI face challenges particularly in bringing opportunities for training and competency while challenging to the demands of the global shipping industry and its graduates’ competitiveness in international seafarer manpower market. There were significant differences noted in perceptions among different stakeholder groups. There was a statistically highly significant relationship between the implementation of maritime education standards and the challenges encountered. An action plan was proposed to further enhance the performance of the MHEI.
