Mídia, Democracia e Representatividade

Abstract

Como premissa democrática, o povo deve-se autogovernar e, para tanto, eleger seus representantes por meio do voto. A escolha, ao menos em tese, dá-se por critério de identificação ideológica dos governados para com seus pretensos governantes, que, por sua vez, estão vinculados a programa político-partidário. Diante de avanços tecnológicos, as campanhas eleitorais assumiram magnitude, especialmente em nosso país, que não conta com subsídio público para custeá-las. A interferência direta da mídia, no processo e no resultado dos pleitos, não pode ser posta em dúvida. O espaço que ocupa supera em muito os horários de propagandas gratuitas. Além de expor a plataforma escolhida pelos candidatos, passa a ditar o rumo da disputa, pondo em xeque os ideais de democracia que orientam nosso ordenamento jurídico.
