El derecho a la ciudad

Abstract

Este trabajo examina la evolución del Derecho a la Ciudad desde sus orígenes hasta el siglo XXI, enmarcándolo dentro de los derechos humanos emergentes que responden a las transformaciones de la era global. El concepto fue acuñado por Henri Lefebvre en 1968 como respuesta al urbanismo funcionalista, aunque Jane Jacobs había sentado las bases teóricas con sus ideas sobre diversidad urbana y participación ciudadana. El Derecho a la Ciudad trasciende el mero acceso a servicios urbanos, constituyendo un derecho colectivo a participar en la construcción y transformación de las ciudades. La globalización ha intensificado los desafíos urbanos: especulación inmobiliaria, privatización del espacio público, gentrificación y fragmentación social. En respuesta, el Derecho a la Ciudad se presenta como herramienta de resistencia y transformación democrática, promoviendo la apropiación social del espacio y la participación ciudadana en la planificación urbana frente al modelo neoliberal dominante.
