Abstract

Con el propósito de optimizar los rendimientos por hectárea y mejorar la ganancia diaria de peso en cabras, se aplicaron sistemas de pastoreo intensivo, concretamente el Pastoreo Racional Voisin (PRV) y el Pastoreo de Ultra Alta Densidad (PUAD), utilizando ejemplares de las razas Saanen y Anglo Nubiana en el clima húmedo tropical de El Carmen, Manabí. Durante un período de 24 días, se manejó un promedio de 8.44 cabras adultas en una superficie total de 1,129.95 m², organizada en cuatro potreros subdivididos en parcelas. Se tomaron registros de peso al inicio y al final del experimento para determinar la ganancia diaria, obteniendo un promedio de 130.64 gramos por animal. A través de la observación cualitativa de la fenología del pasto, se verificó que el manejo se ajustó a los principios del PRV. Asimismo, los cálculos de carga animal indicaron que fue posible mantener un promedio de 74.69 cabras adultas por hectárea.
