Abstract

A adicção é caracterizada como uso compulsivo da droga e é analisada neste artigo, sob o prisma do condicionamento clássico. Tolerância e desejo compulsivo pela droga, "craving" não são somente fenômenos neurobiológicos, mas também respostas condicionadas (CRs), resultantes de reações antecipatórias do organismo, eliciadas por sinais do contexto associados, previamente, ao efeito da cocaína. Este artigo pontua que tolerância e "craving" são respostas, pelo menos em parte, extrafannacológicas. Também, o contexto não é mera reprodução de propriedades físicas, mas envolve atribuição de sentidos no processo da adicção .. Assim, a compreensão dos processos psicológicos em humanos pode ter relevância clínica, vez que pode apontar para diferenças individuais de vulnerabilidade da adicção à cocaína.
