In June and July 2003, a salvage excavation was conducted at Horbat Mesar, on the eastern fringes of the village of Miesar (Permit No. A-3925; map ref. 20430-40/70555-70). The excavation was directed by M.A. Tabar; P Gendelman studied the pottery and G. Bijovsky identified the coins. The excavation unearthed remains from Roman and Byzantine periods. These consisted mostly of part of a bathhouse caldarium.
