
In January-March 2017 and February-March 2018, two excavation seasons were conducted at the mosaic compound in Lod (Permit Nos. A-7891, A-8223; map ref. 191000-19/651395-415), as part of an educational programs organized with 'New Way' and the Merchavim Institute (Figs. 1, 2).The excavations, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Morningstar Foundation in cooperation with the Lod Municipality, were directed by S. Dallasheh and D. Abu Salah, with the assistance of E. York (educational director, organization and administration), Y. Amrani and R. Abu Halaf (administration), D. Ben Ami, A. 'Azav, P. Gendelman and I. Korenfeld (consultation and scientific guidance), as well as D. Weinberger, T. Haviv Mashiah, V. Bosidan-Gadol, T. Bluestein, T. Shabi, M. Abu-'Alan, H. Hazan, A. Ben-Atar, A. Bar and N. Anitali (IAA Archaeological Education Center). Arab and Jewish students from elementary schools in Lod and volunteers from the Ma'oz pre-military preparatory program in Lod participated in the excavation.
