Kefar ‘Otnay and Legio: Remains from the Roman and early Byzantine Periods (Hebrew; English summary)

Abstract

In April and May 2001, three salvage excavations were carried out at the sites of Kefar 'Otnay and Legio west of Megiddo Junction: at Kefar 'Otnay, southwest of the junction (Area A; Permit No. A-3401; map ref. 21810-1/71980-1), prior to building a visitor center at Megiddo Prison; and at Legio, northwest side of the junction (Areas B, C; Permit Nos. A-3417, A-3548; map ref. 21790-810/71990-2000). The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Ministry of Defense, was directed by H. Abu-'Uqsa. D. Syon studied the coins, and I. Ktalav studied the mollusks. The remains are dated to the Roman and early Byzantine periods.
