
During June-August 2005, a trial excavation was conducted at Horbat Zurin the Ela Valley (Permit No. A-4511; map ref. NIG 20155-65/618045-50; OIG 15155-65/118045-50), in an area slated for the construction of the separation fence. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the Ministry of Defense, was directed by A. Eirikh-Rose, with the assistance of O. Barzilai and M. Birkenfeld (area supervision), R. Abu-Halaf (administration), T. Kornfeld (surveying and drafting) and D. Sklar and Y. Nagar (physical anthropology).
