Teaching Modern Greek Language with I.C.T.: middle school students’ opinions

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate students’ opinions about the effectiveness of teaching Modern Greek Language with I.C.T. So, we designed and implemented seven lessons for the 1st grade of a middle school (Gymnasium). We used different computer applications, such as MS Word, MS Powerpoint, the web, electronic dictionaries, the corpus of a portal for Greek Language, Googledocs, Webquests and, finally, the software “The Greek Language: The Adventures of Words”. The result of our research is that the use of I.C.T. caused intense interest and active participation to all students, as they learned by doing, tested new teaching methods, explored knowledge through teaching practice, cooperated and cultivated a positive attitude towards Modern Greek Language courses.
