
Este trabajo se propone ahondar en el libro del británico James A. Froude The English in the West Indies (1888)sobresu viaje al Caribe, en la obra del criollo de Trinidad J.J. Thomas Froudacity (1889) que fue una respuesta a las visión colonialista y racista del primero, así como en los ecos en España del pensamiento de Froude sobre el poder colonial y la escritura de la historia, constatable en debates parlamentarios de finales del siglo XIX y en autores que inauguraron la leyenda negra en España a principios del s. XX.
