Distracción Craneofacial en Bloque

Abstract

intro_obj: Presentamos nuestra experiencia en distracción 'en bloque' de los tercios superior y medio del esqueleto craneofacial. Esta técnica evita disecar la duramadre del hueso frontal. Aplicamos este método en 12 pacientes con más de 5 años de edad y diferentes tipos de faciocraneosinostosis. Ocho pacientes no habían tenido ningún tratamiento previo. En todos ellos fue posible la distracción osteogénica en bloque del esqueleto craneofacial sin crear un espacio muerto retrofrontal. Evitamos también el uso de injertos óseos y de materiales de osteosíntesis. Los resultados obtenidos son satisfactorios y estables hasta el momento. Como ventajas reseñamos el evitar usar material de osteosíntesis, no crear espacios muertos extradurales, la reducción del tiempo operatorio y la disminución del sangrado. Entre las desventajas señalamos el que el distractor debe ser retirado en un segundo tiempo quirúrgico.
