From a critical articulation of works published during the XIX and XX centuries, by African descendents authors, it is intended to ponder about the existence of an “african side” acting as a questioning supplement of the canon. This lineage is constituted from an authorship and a Brazilian black subject, by the presence of a point of view identified to the “african-brazilian way of life” and through distinct formulations concerning language, attached to a reader’s constitution proposal. Keywords: african descent; african-brazilian literature.
