Abstract

La diminution progressive de l’espace pâturé est l’une des difficultés que l’on rencontre pour tout type d’élevage en Côte d’Ivoire en matière d’alimentation qui représente environ 50 % à 70 % du coût de production. L’objectif de cette étude a été d’améliorer la production de la biomasse de la graminée fourragère Andropogon tectorum (Schumach & Thonn) pour une disponibilité d’aliments pour les ruminants en Côte d’Ivoire. Une parcelle expérimentale a été mise en place avec huit traitements prenant en compte trois facteurs (la fertilisation, l’intervalle de coupe, la densité de plantation). Les résultats montrent que le traitement E1D4C6 (Engrais +40 cm entre plants + 60 jours avant coupe) favorise un bon développement de la plante au niveau de la hauteur, du nombre de talles et de feuilles. Il a aussi la meilleure capacité de charge saisonnière. Ce traitement permet un rendement potentiel de 1125,86 kg de MS.ha-1, avec un faible taux de mortalité. Le traitement E1D4C6 reste le meilleur.
