Realidad aumentada y realidad virtual en ortopedia

Abstract

La ortopedia está atravesando una transformación significativa impulsada por tecnologías emergentes como la realidad aumentada (RA) y la realidad virtual (RV). Ambas herramientas están mejorando la forma en que los profesionales interactúan con los pacientes y optimizando los métodos de formación, diagnóstico y tratamiento. La RA permite superponer información digital en el mundo real, facilitando la visualización de estructuras anatómicas y datos clínicos en tiempo real. En cirugía ortopédica, esto se traduce en una comprensión más precisa de la anatomía del paciente, permitiendo identificar lesiones, planificar procedimientos y realizar simulaciones previas que disminuyen riesgos. Incluso es posible proyectar hologramas de trayectorias de tornillos o superponer lesiones tumorales antes de una intervención. La RV, por su parte, ofrece entornos inmersivos para el entrenamiento de profesionales y la rehabilitación de pacientes. Los simuladores permiten practicar técnicas complejas en un entorno seguro, mientras que los programas de rehabilitación utilizan ejercicios interactivos y juegos personalizados que favorecen la recuperación y aumentan la motivación. Si bien estas tecnologías muestran beneficios claros, también presentan desafíos relacionados con su costo, la capacitación del personal y la protección de datos. A pesar de ello, RA y RV están revolucionando la ortopedia y abren un futuro prometedor para mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes.
