Samen bouwen aan meer inclusief onderwijs

Abstract

De implementatie van inclusief onderwijs (IO) staat hoog op de onderwijsbeleidsagenda van Vlaanderen en Nederland. In beide landen werden wetgevingen ingevoerd (M-decreet, Wet op Passend onderwijs) om de implementatie ervan te bevorderen. De implementatie van dit meer inclusieve beleid wordt door leraren als uitdagend ervaren (Ledoux & Waslander, 2020; Struyf et al., 2019). Om meer zicht te krijgen op de processen die schuilgaan achter de implementatie van inclusief onderwijs, werd een vier jaar durend doctoraatsonderzoek opgezet, waarin zowel theoretische als empirische inzichten gebundeld werden. In dit beschouwend artikel gaan we in op bekomen inzichten die ons inziens ook relevant zijn voor lerarenopleidingen in zowel Nederland als Vlaanderen. Meer specifiek werken we twee thema’s uit. Het ene thema betreft de attitudes en doelmatigheidsbeleving van leraren tegenover IO. Het andere thema wijst op het belang van ondersteuning en professionalisering van leraren gericht op het realiseren van IO. Voor beide thema’s formuleren we aanbevelingen voor lerarenopleidingen, met als doel het vaardiger maken van toekomstige leraren in het lesgeven in een inclusieve setting.
