All professional counselors are likely to work with clients who use cannabis. Even without a specialization in substance use disorders, knowledge of cannabis use and symptoms of disordered use has important implications for assessment and treatment planning for professional counselors. This brief includes a review of prevelance rates, commonly used assessment tools, and cultural and sociopolitical considerations when working with clients who use cannabis.
