Abstract

La finalidad del Código internacional de seguridad para los buques que utilicen gases u otros combustibles de bajo punto de inflamación (Código IGF) es facilitar una norma internacional para los buques que utilicen combustibles de bajo punto de inflamación, excepto aquellos que estén regidos por el Código CIG.La filosofía fundamental del presente código es establecer disposiciones de carácter obligatorio para la disposición, la instalación, el control y la vigilancia de la maquinaria, el equipo y los sistemas que utilizan combustibles de bajo punto de inflamación a fin de reducir al mínimo los riesgos para el buque, la tripulación y el medio ambiente, tomando en consideración la naturaleza de los combustibles utilizados.
