Factores socioculturales que influyen en la cobertura del tamizaje metabólico neonatal en una población ecuatoriana

Abstract

El tamizaje metabólico neonatal es una estrategia clave para la detección precoz de trastornos metabólicos y genéticos, con impacto en la morbimortalidad infantil. El objetivo fue evaluar la influencia de los factores socioculturales en la cobertura del tamizaje metabólico neonatal en una población ecuatoriana. Fue un estudio observacional, descriptivo, correlacional, retrospectivo y de corte transversal. La población estuvo conformada por madres con hijos nacidos vivos que pertenecen a los establecimientos de salud Río Chico y Los Arenales, Manabí, Ecuador, durante el periodo de enero a diciembre de 2023. La muestra consistió en 200 mujeres, 100 de cada establecimiento. Los resultados mostraron que factores socioculturales como la edad, grado académico, ocupación, estructura familiar y accesibilidad a los servicios de salud influyen en la cobertura del tamizaje. Los resultados destacan la necesidad urgente de mejorar el acceso equitativo a este tamizaje, especialmente en áreas rurales. Se concluye que los factores socioculturales están estrechamente relacionados con la participación en el tamizaje metabólico neonatal, destacando la necesidad de implementar estrategias adaptadas cultural y geográficamente para garantizar una cobertura equitativa y universal en la detección precoz de enfermedades metabólicas en recién nacidos, especialmente en zonas rurales.
