Determinación de valores de inmunoglobulinas IgG e IgM contra Epstein Barr Virus en estudiantes

Abstract

El virus del Epstein Barr es un (gama) herpesvirus, que está presente en un 90% a nivel mundial; en el Ecuador no hay estimaciones de prevalencia de este virus. Está relacionado con la mononucleosis infecciosa y múltiples tipos de cáncer. El método de contagio se produce a través de secreciones salivales, una vez contraído persiste durante toda la vida. En este estudio se tomó en cuenta a 85 adolescentes de la base de datos del laboratorio de la Clínica el Batán, de los cuales el 96,48% presentan los anticuerpos IgG contra el virus del Epstein Barr y el 3,52% no se han contagiado hasta el momento. El sexo femenino presentó más prevalencia a las inmunoglobulinas IgG con un 96,55% (56) y un 96,29% (26) hombres. En la adolescencia puede ser la edad más comprendida para la infección por el virus del Epstein Barr. La etnia que presentó los anticuerpos fue la mestiza porque es la raza que más habita en el Ecuador con un 95,59%. Ninguno de los pacientes tubo la infección reciente, por el corto periodo que está en nuestro organismo. En este estudio se probó que ninguno conocía acerca del virus, y se debe incentivar a más investigaciones de la etiología del VEB y dar a conocer sobre las consecuencias del virus.
