Malformaciones Congénitas de Cavidad Oral

Abstract

La examinación de la cavidad oral es fundamental para descubrir diferentes malformaciones congénitas. Las detecciones tempranas pueden ayudar a iniciar una terapia médica o quirúrgica adecuada, de esta manera prevenir complicaciones que pueden afectar la vida del paciente durante sus primeros años de vida. Algunas de las malformaciones de la cavidad oral incluyen hendidura mandibular media, micrognatia, labio leporino y paladar hendido, hendidura facial lateral y épulis. Estas malformaciones son el resultado de errores en la embriogénesis o eventos intrauterinos que alteran el crecimiento fetal. Este artículo es una revisión de los procesos de embriogénesis y de la malformación específica con su descripción, manejo y abordaje radiológico imagenológico para su detección temprana.
