Marcadores tumorales séricos en carcinoma hepatocelular

Abstract

El cáncer de hígado es uno de los tumores malignos más frecuentes en el mundo y su incidencia varía considerablemente según las regiones geográficas estudiadas, debido a los factores etiológicos involucrados. El virus de las hepatitis B y C y el estado cirrótico de los pacientes son los responsables de la gran mayoría del cáncer de hígado. El conocimiento de los mecanismos moleculares y el reconocimiento de que la acumulación gradual de defectos genéticos durante el desarrollo tumoral puede contribuir con la forma de prevenir, diagnosticar y tratar el cáncer conlleva a intensificar el estudio de estos. En este trabajo se realiza una revisión de la literatura acerca de los marcadores tumorales como la alfafetoproteína y otros marcadores tumorales como la fracción de alfafetoproteína que se une a la lectina (L3-AFP) y Desgamma carboxiprotrombina. Dado que en el Hepatocarcinoma están involucrados distintos agentes etiológicos se deben investigar combinaciones de marcadores tumorales que pueden proveer información más exacta para el diagnóstico y pronóstico de estos pacientes.
