Hieronim ze Strydonu wobec homeizmu i problemów z własną biblioteką za pontyfikatu Damazego

Abstract

Hieronim był jednym z najwybitniejszych pisarzy chrześcijańskich w IV-V wieku po Chrystusie. Jego działalność przypadała na okres sporów religijnych, znanych jako konflikt o naukę Ariusza. W rzeczywistości podstawowy spór toczył się między zwolennikami ,,współistotności” a stronnikami ,,podobieństwa”. Przed soborem w Nicei Kościół wyznawał właśnie pewną odmianę podobieństwa. Hieronim popierał papieża Damazego w walce o realizację uchwał z Nicei. W tej walce wykorzystywał zasoby własnej biblioteki, którą utrzymywał, także na pustyni.
