LA POSICIÓN COMPETITIVA DE BRASIL EN EL MERCADO COMUNITARIO DE FRUTAS TROPICALES

Abstract

Se analizan las exportaciones brasileñas de frutas tropicales a los mercados de la Unión Europea con base en un análisis de descomposición. Esa técnica permite identificar si los incrementos (disminuciones) en las cuotas de exportación se deben a la expansión (retracción) de la demanda, a un tratamiento preferencial (no preferencial) dentro de la política comercial de la Unión Europea (EU) o si al contrário obedecen a una ganancia (pérdida) de competitividad de Brasil en relación a los países competidores. Los resultados han indicado que las exportaciones de los países terceros, donde se incluye Brasil, son muy dependientes de las condiciones de la demanda. Al mismo tiempo han puesto de manifiesto que las concesiones arancelarias hechas por la UE juegan muy poco a favor de los países beneficiados y que el éxito en la ganancia de mayores cuotas de mercado depende esencialmente de los factores internos relacionados con la competitividad. Los resultados también han indicado situaciones competitivas distintas de acuerdo con la fruta tropical exportada por Brasil.
